Located in the heart of the South Burnett wine region, Moffatdale Ridge is a premier family-owned and operated vineyard. The estate’s history dates back to the 1910s when German immigrants Benjamin and Fredrieka Sempf settled in the area. Today, fourth-generation descendants Jason and Susan Kinsella, alongside their children, have transformed this legacy into a world-class winemaking enterprise. From the vine to the table, the family oversees the entire production, operating a state-of-the-art winery capable of producing 10,000 cases per annum alongside their prized Brangus beef herd.
The Vineyard & Premium Queensland Wines
Self-taught winemaker Jason Kinsella crafts wines specifically designed for the Queensland climate and lifestyle. With the vineyard expanding across 50 acres, Moffatdale Ridge focuses on Mediterranean varieties perfectly suited to South East Queensland. Signature offerings include:
- White Wines: The flagship Verdelho is a fresh, zesty dry white perfect for local seafood, alongside a crisp Semillon and a fruit-driven Late Harvest White.
- Red Wines: Soft, climate-appropriate reds including Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve Shiraz, and a light Late Harvest Red (a blend of 80% Verdelho and 20% Shiraz).
- New Plantings: Exciting Mediterranean varietals such as Fiano and Nero D’Avola, reflecting a modern shift in Australian winemaking.
Specialty Liqueurs & Fortified Wines
Beyond traditional table wines, the cellar door offers an exceptional range of creative, locally inspired liqueurs and fortified options:
- Roasted Macadamia Liqueur: A gentle infusion of spirit and oils from the native Queensland Nut Tree.
- Turkish Delight Liqueur: A traditional infusion of rose nectar, perfect for cocktails or desserts.
- Chocolate Tawny & Cognac Walnut Liqueur: Rich, decadent options designed for after-dinner enjoyment or pairing with soft cheese platters.
D’vine Restaurant: Locally Inspired Dining
Chef Susan Kinsella brings the region’s spectacular produce to life at D’vine Restaurant, with a menu expertly paired with the estate’s wines.
- Menu Highlights: Features include 220g locally grown Eye Fillet with Cabernet Red Wine Jus, Seared Baramundi with garlic roasted potatoes, Tuscan Chicken, and lavish Winemakers Platters.
- Dining Hours: Open 6 days a week (closed Wednesdays) for lunch from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
- Dining Policies: Bookings are essential. Please note the restaurant operates with a “one bill per table” policy, and a 15% surcharge applies on all public holidays.
