Lightning Tree Wines is a boutique South Burnett producer known for its “fruit-forward” philosophy and quirky personality. Owned and operated by Peter and Vikki Stewart, who bring over 30 years of industry experience to every bottle, the label is built on the belief that great wine begins in the dirt. While their grapes are nurtured at a leased vineyard in Moffatdale, their public home is a vibrant, “zany” cellar door in the heart of nearby Goomeri.

The Goomeri Cellar Door Experience

Unlike traditional vineyard estates, the Lightning Tree Cellar Door is a boutique shop and wine bar that serves as a creative hub for the region. Located on Moore Street, it offers a welcoming, accessible environment for tastings:

• Free Tastings: Visitors can enjoy complimentary samples of the current range, often guided by Peter and Vikki themselves.
• Local Treasures: Beyond wine, the shop is a curated marketplace for local South Burnett produce, handmade arts and crafts, and vintage collectables.
• Accessibility: The cellar door is designed to be inclusive, actively welcoming guests with access needs, including wheelchair users and those with vision or sensory challenges.

The Stable: From Sassy Whites to Creamy Liqueurs

The wine list at Lightning Tree is designed to suit the warm Queensland climate, focusing on crisp finishes and bold fruit profiles:

• Signature Blends: Look for the Sassy Lassy (a Viognier/Verdelho “verandah wine”), The Bee’s Knees Rosé, and the Odd Couple chilled red.
• Unique Varietals: They produce a smooth Saperavi and a robust Tempranillo, alongside classic Shiraz and Sparkling.
• The Liqueurs: A major drawcard is the Strawberry Seduction, a luscious strawberry cream wine-based liqueur, alongside their Smooth as Silk Tawny Port.

Location and Hours

While the vineyard remains in Moffatdale, all public tastings and retail sales are conducted at the Goomeri storefront.
