Our Region

The beautiful South Burnett

Nestled among the striking landscape of ancient forests, national parks, lakes and rich farmland are the vineyards and cellar doors of the South Burnett Wine Region. Home to a number of small family producers whose passion runs deep for their award-winning wines.   A visit to the vibrant wine region brings you face to face with the viticulturists who nurture the vineyards and winemakers who handcraft the wines. Sprinkled across the Barambah Valley in the north, to the Booie Ranges and Kingaroy in the south, cellar doors offer free tastings, casual conversation and warm country charm.  At every stop you’ll be treated to a unique, personal experience. Most likely the person pouring the wines will have either grown and harvested the grapes or crushed, fermented and bottled the wines. And each personality will share their passionate stories behind their craft.

Tantalise your tastebuds with sumptuous food offerings prepared from the abundance of fresh, local produce. Pair your food with a glass or two of zesty, whites and fruit-driven reds created to suit the relaxed Queensland lifestyle. Experience wines of the world grown and crafted in the South Burnett; from Semillon, Verdelho and Viognier to Sangiovese, Shiraz and Saperavi and everything in between.

Situated only a few hours’ drive from Brisbane, Toowoomba and the Coast, the journey takes you through picturesque countryside and quaint rural townships.  A variety of accommodation options are provided at several of the wineries so visitors can enjoy a whole weekend exploring the cellar doors and other attractions.

Whether you make it your destination or simply plan a stop as you pass through, a trip to the South Burnett wineries promises to be a memorable one . . . there’s a story in every bottle!

Our Wines

The wines of this region are fruit forward and fresh.  Crisp, zesty  whites which carry the mineral notes from the soils, and delightful reds which typically exhibit cherry fruits and earthy tones make up the majority of the regions offerings..

Despite being a small region of family owned and operated facilities, not much more than two decades old, its producers have already won a string of awards and accolades for their wines.

Our Land

The South Burnett is underpinned by a rich agricultural history. From 1843 when the first settlers to the area first unlocked the potential of these diverse landscapes and unique soils,

it has seen rich timber times and prosperous farming years. It is a land filled with diverse natural beauty stretching from the Bunya Mountains in the the south, across the Kingaroy farmlands and the Booie Ranges, through to the grassy pastures of Moffatdale in the Barambah Valley. Rivers and streams and waterholes dot the area and fishermen and watersport enthusiasts alike make excellent use of the dams and lakes .
